Andong Zzimdak

Location: 252 North Bridge Road, #B1-44F Raffles City Shopping Centre

Operating hours: 11:30 am-10:00 pm

It is really fortunate to know this food tasting through OYHZ and mel. The owners are the same group of people who is behind Yoogane which is popular chain of dakgalbi in Korea. This time, they are bringing andong jjimdak to Singapore!! Those who have been to Korea who known this dish.

Guess where this dish originated from???

It originated from city of Andong which is made of chicken, various vegetables marinated in a ganjang sauce (korean soy sauce). It is popular among friends to share this dish and accompany it with rice. This was one of the first dish which my korea friends bought me to try. I was brought my friends to try this dish during my guide tour. It really brings me wonderful memories.

When we arrived, the whole restaurant was fully packed and queue is surprisingly long. The shop was only opened recently just one week ago. It is so popular that they have run out chicken before 8pm as they did not expect such a huge crowd. They even have to assign one server to stop the queue. I am really lucky to try out this hottest korean food in town.

There are 4 different version of andong jjimdak available:
-andong jjimdak: less spicy version of andong jjimdak
-boneless jjimdak: the more popular version as it is boneless
-seafood jjimdak: jjimdak swimming in pool with prawns, mussels and squid
-Mayak jjimdak: the original version of andong jjimdak which is spicy

It comes in two different portion:
-medium: suitable for 2-3 people
-large: suitable for 3-4 people

Boneless jjimdak
This boneless jjimdak is large portion and they are really generate with their portion similar to korea. The portion can easily fill the stomach of 4 people!! It is best for lazy people like me who don't want to get my hand dirty.

The chicken is really drowning in the pool of korean soy sauce. The chicken meat is really quite tender and soft. The carrot and potatoes are also fresh. There is also hidden treasure of starch noodle in the middle but I am too busy eating till I forget to take photo of that ...

Seafood jjimdak
This portion is medium portion. The chicken is swimming and make friends with big fresh prawn and mussel in the sea of korean soy sauce. Both are quite similar but the boneless jjimdak is slightly spicier. If you are love spicy food, go and try mayak jjimdak :)

Mini seafood pancake
The small crispy and yummy seafood pancake which give a seaful of flavours with every bite.

chicken karrage
The small piece of crispy chicken similar to popcorn chicken is side dish to order while waiting for the main course. They also have spicy dokboki.
After dinner, we are trying to figure out what this logo means. We can see there is a two chicken heads inside if you look hard enough. There is also korean character  which translate to god in in korean. So this logo means chicken god??

Overall, the andong jjimdak is really nice to share among friends and you can order makgeolli/soju to go with it. Other than these alcoholic drinks, they also have brown rice green tea, barley tea and citron tea too. If you are still considering what to eat while shopping in cityhall, can consider this. Remember to go early as they can be sold out first!!
